Independence Day celebrated as 'Partition Horror Remembrance Day' at NSPS
The true colour of patriotism brightened the arena at Nankana Sahib Public School when the 78th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour. The day was celebrated as Partition Horror Remembrance Day.
Sardar Inderpal Singh Chadha Director Nankana Sahib Education Trust unfurled the National Flag. It was followed by the National Anthem by the school choir. While addressing the gathering of students, teachers and staff he remembered all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their life for the nation.
The school Principal Mrs Harmeet Kaur Waraich also addressed the gathering. She said, "We all should maintain sovereignty and integrity of India."
The students enthralled the audience with a cultural programme based on patriotism. They expressed their thoughts through speeches, songs and poems in different languages. All this highlighted the journey of freedom struggle by our martyrs and how they resolved to save our nation from the clutches of Britishers. The Students were carrying Tricolour Flags in their hands and many painter tricolours on their faces.
Mrs Waraich congratulated one and all on this momentous occasion. The students staged a play based on the script curated by National School of Drama (NSD) about partition. The play reflected chronological events of partition and its impact on Indians. It was a unique performance which filled the whole atmosphere with a feeling of patriotism. The celebration concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
