Teej Celebrated with Fervor at NSPS

To celebrate the ongoing monsoon season, the festival of Sawan, Teej was celebrated with fervour and gaiety at Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park.

The whole school atmosphere was full of festivity and enthusiasm. The stage was decorated with traditional articles like baags, phulkaries, pakhies and chhaj along with other handicrafts.

The function started with shabad related to the month of saawan. Afterwards, the whole Campus was resounding with old melodious and new Punjabi songs.

Clad in colourful Punjabi attires, all the girls were decked up with traditional jewellery. They performed foot-tapping folk dances including bhangra, giddha and solo dances. The modelling of different Punjabi numbers carried everyone down to the memory lane. The aim behind this was to show changes in the attires of Punjabi dresses.

Everyone appreciated the function, which was based on the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. Appreciating the efforts of students, the school principal, Mrs Harmeet Kaur Waraich said, "The relentless efforts of girl students and teachers made the event a success. Blessed are all those who have daughters."

Mrs Jasmeen Kaur the headmistress of Primary Wing was also present on this occasion. The students also enjoyed kheer and malpuras. They wished happy Teej to each other and promised to continue this tradition in the coming years.
